Female farmers looking to finesse their agriculture advocacy skills are encouraged to apply for the American Farm Bureau Federation’s 11th Women’s Communication Boot Camp.
Fifteen women will be selected for the three-day intensive training in Washington Oct. 24-27. Applications are due June 15.
The Alabama Farmers Federation’s Kim Ramsey said the one-on-one coaching and hands-on training empowers women in agriculture.
“Graduates of this program are inspired to connect with influencers at the local, state and national levels,” said Ramsey, the Federation’s Women’s Leadership Division director. “The impact of bringing new and improved communication skills back to Alabama is immeasurable.”
Participants will receive public speaking and advocacy training, along with tips on targeting messages and working with the media. They will complete intensive media interviews and receive feedback to become stronger agriculture advocates.
