President Donald J. Trump
President Donald J. Trump is slated to address 5,000 farmer constituents, including more than 100 Alabamians, at the American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) 99th Annual Convention in Nashville, Tennessee, Jan. 5-10.
The speech comes on the heels of historic tax reform legislation — a boon to families and businesses nationwide, said Alabama Farmers Federation President Jimmy Parnell.
“I am so pleased with what President Trump has accomplished and excited about what he’s doing for agriculture — and the fact that he realizes the importance of farming to this country,” Parnell said. “This is a great opportunity for our county leaders to hear directly from the president about his vision for America.”
Trump’s commitment to American agricultural success was reinforced earlier this year when AFBF President Zippy Duvall was appointed to the White House’s Advisory Committee for Trade Policy and Negotiations.
Trump is the first sitting president to speak at an AFBF annual convention since President George H.W. Bush in 1992.
Other meeting highlights include:
- Alabama’s 19 delegates and alternates voting on policy changes;
- Women’s Leadership caucuses;
- Young Farmers events, including Discussion Meet, Excellence in Agriculture and Achievement Award contests;
- The IDEAg Trade Show;
- Tennessee agriculture tours;
- Workshops; and
- Foundation Night Out at the Grand Ole Opry.
