Washington County Students Participate In Alfa Youth Leadership Conference

Washington County Student Earns College Scholarship
Auburn University student Reid Garris of Washington County received a $1,750 scholarship from the Alabama Farmers Agriculture Foundation and Washington County Farmers Federation. He was recognized at the Alabama Farmers Federation’s Scholarship Reception at the Ham Wilson Livestock Arena in Auburn Sept. 20. Garris is a sophomore studying animal sciences, pre-vet track, and is from Leroy. From left are Federation President Jimmy Parnell, Garris and Federation Southwest Area Vice President Jake Harper.
Farmers Federations Sponsor Annual UWA Fish Fry
Over 485 people attended the University of West Alabama Fish Fry Sept. 6 before the football game versus Miles College. Farmers Federations from Greene, Choctaw, Sumter, Marengo, Pickens, Washington and Hale counties sponsored the annual event.
UWA President Ken Tucker, the provost, the athletic director, Livingston Mayor Tom Tartt, Rep. AJ McCampbell, Rep. Ralph Howard & Sen. Bobby Singleton attended.
