Local Farmer Hears From Alabama Congressman During Row Crops Short Course

Hammock Elected State Young Farmers Vice Chair
Chase Hammock of Talladega County was elected vice chairman of the State Young Farmers Committee during the Alabama Farmers Federation’s 97th annual meeting in Montgomery Dec. 3. He will help lead the 10-person committee as it organizes the 2019 Young Farmers Conference and works to grow involvement throughout the state. Talladega County Students Participate In Alfa Youth Leadership Conference
Talladega County students Izzy Wright and Trent Givens sharpened leadership skills during the Alfa Youth Leadership Conference at the 4-H Center in Columbiana Oct. 8-9. Wright attends Winterboro High School, while Givens is a student at Lincoln High School. They were sponsored by the Talladega County Farmers Federation. Talladega County Student Earns College Scholarship
Auburn University student Josie Williams of Talladega County received a $1,750 scholarship from the Alabama Farmers Agriculture Foundation and Talladega County Farmers Federation. She was recognized at the Alabama Farmers Federation’s Scholarship Reception at the Ham Wilson Livestock Arena in Auburn Sept. 20. Williams is a freshman studying agricultural business and economics and is from Childersburg. Wilson Graudates From A.L.F.A. Leaders Program
Jeremy Wilson of Lincoln in Talladega County graduated from the two-year Agricultural Leaders For Alabama (A.L.F.A. Leaders) program in Montgomery Aug. 2. The 17-member A.L.F.A. Leaders Class IV was recognized at the 46th Commodity Producers Conference hosted by the Alabama Farmers Federation, which sponsors the program. Members attended six institutes from Montgomery to Washington, D.C., to Spain during A.L.F.A. Leaders, which stressed personal development, communication, political involvement and an in-depth understanding of the Federation. Hunter Trees in Talladega County was named Alabama's 2014 Farm of Distinction and will represent Alabama in the Southeastern Farmer of the Year contest at the Sunbelt Ag Expo.
