Lauderdale County Students Participate In Alfa Youth Leadership Conference
Lauderdale County students Joseph Thompson, Kristen Walker, Wilton-Mark Pettus, Madeline Williams and Isabella Cornelius sharpened leadership skills during the Alfa Youth Leadership Conference at the 4-H Center in Columbiana Oct. 8-9. Thompson attends Florence Freshman Center; Walker, Williams and Pettus attend Lexington School; and Cornelius is a student at Lauderdale County High School. Lauderdale County Student Studying Agriculture Earns College Scholarship
Auburn University student Wyatt Walker of Lauderdale County received a $1,750 scholarship from the Alabama Farmers Agriculture Foundation and Lauderdale County Farmers Federation. He was recognized at the Alabama Farmers Federation’s Scholarship Reception at the Ham Wilson Livestock Arena in Auburn Sept. 20. Walker is a sophomore studying animal sciences production management and is from Lexington. From left are Federation President Jimmy Parnell and Walker.
Painter Wins Ribbons In Annual State Quilting Contests
Regina Painter of Lauderdale County won first place in the baby quilt contest at the Alabama Farmers Federation’s 46th Commodity Producers Conference in Montgomery Aug. 4. She won $150, courtesy of the Federation’s Women’s Leadership Division. She also won $100 and second place in the machine-stitched quilt contest.
