Fayette County Farmers Federation Earns 2018 Award of Excellence
The Fayette County Farmers Federation received the Award for Excellence Dec. 3. during the Alabama Farmers Federation’s 97th Annual Meeting in Montgomery. To earn the distinction, counties must score at least 80 points out of 100 on the award application, which covers involvement in agricultural programs, governmental affairs, county Women’s Leadership and Young Farmers committees.

Fayette County Students Participate In Alfa Youth Leadership Conference
Fayette County students Emily Webster, Aisha Nasser, Will Aaron and Alex Whitehead sharpened leadership skills during the Alfa Youth Leadership Conference at the 4-H Center in Columbiana Oct. 8-9. Webster and Nasser attend Hubbertville High School, while Aaron and Whitehead are students at Fayette County High School. They were sponsored by the Fayette County Farmers Federation. Tucker Competes In Annual State Heritage Cooking Contest
Karan Tucker of Fayette County entered her recipe for Bacon Wrapped Pineapple in the 2018 Heritage Cooking Contest. The annual contest is sponsored by the Alabama Farmers Federation Women's Leadership Division and highlights a specific commodity. For 2018, pork was the highlighted commodity.
Bacon Wrapped Pineapple
1 lb. bacon
1 can pineapple chunks
Directions: Cut bacon slices in half. Wrap each pineapple chunk with bacon slice and secure with a toothpick. Broil in oven, flipping halfway through the 8-minute cook time or until crisp.
