Newmans Of Coffee County Earn Helene Mosley Memorial TREASURE Forest Award
Joan and Mike Newman of Coffee County received the Helene Mosley Memorial TREASURE Forest Award during the Alabama Landowners Conference Awards Program Oct. 15 at the Marriott Prattville Hotel and Conference Center. This award recognizes individuals who exemplify the multiple-use concepts of forest management with special emphasis on education. Recipients must own a certified Alabama TREASURE Forest.
The Newmans’ names will be added to a plaque of past Helen Mosley Memorial TREASURE Forest Award winners, which hangs alongside the Alabama Forester’s Hall of Fame in the Auburn University School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences.

The inaugural Alabama Landowners Conference was presented by the Alabama Natural Resources Council, the Alabama Tree Farm Committee and the Alabama TREASURE Forest Association.
Coffee County Students Participate In Alfa Youth Leadership Conference
Coffee County students Faith Stadler, Blair Wyrosdick, Dakotah Barber and Dyllan Lee sharpened leadership skills during the Alfa Youth Leadership Conference at the 4-H Center in Columbiana Oct. 8-9. Wyrosdick attends Kinston High School, while Stadler, Barber and Lee are students at Enterprise High School. They were sponsored by the Coffee County Farmers Federation. Coffee County Student Studying Agriculture Earns College Scholarship
Auburn University student Grayson Sessions of Coffee County received a $1,750 scholarship from the Alabama Farmers Agriculture Foundation and Coffee County Farmers Federation. He was recognized at the Alabama Farmers Federation’s Scholarship Reception at the Ham Wilson Livestock Arena in Auburn Sept. 20. Sessions, who is from Elba, is a junior studying agricultural science. Helms Places Third In Annual State Tablescapes Contest
Mary Alice Helms of Coffee County received third place in the tablescapes contest at the Alabama Farmers Federation’s 46th Commodity Producers Conference in Montgomery Aug. 4. She won $75, courtesy of the Federation’s Women’s Leadership Division, for her wheat-themed display.
Local Young Farmers Win Peanut Division Of Outstanding Young Farm Family Contest
