Local Agriculture Leaders Meet With Legislators
A.L.F.A. Leadership Class graduate and State Sen. County Young Farmers Attend District 2 Meeting

Cleveland High School FCCLA Wins $300
The Cleveland High School (CHS) Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) recently received $300 from the Alabama Farmers Agriculture Foundation (AFAF).
FCCLA adviser Victoria Miles and her students earned entries in an AFAF drawing by selling copies of the Farming Feeds Alabama cookbook in a special fundraiser sponsored by the Alabama Farmers Federation.
Blount County Farmers Federation President Tim Whitley presented the check to Miles and FCCLA students Kaitlyn McAnnally, Morgan Roddam and Karen Bryant Jan. 9. The money may be used for the FCCLA club or the Family and Consumer Sciences Department.
The AFAF drawing also included $500 and $200 awards, which went to Glencoe High School FCCLA and Ohatchee High School FCCLA, respectively. Twenty-four schools across the state earned entries into the drawing by participating in cookbook fundraiser.

Blount County Farm-City Presents Poster Contest Awards At Annual Banquet
Blount County Farm-City poster contest winners were recognized at the county banquet Nov. 18 at Locust Fork Baptist Church. Fro left are Britlyn Bryson, Emma Grace Alldredge, Meredith, Love, Eli Abel, Audra Perry and Reed Miller. The event included a canned food drive for Filling Station 56, a soup kitchen in Blountsville; a talk from guest speaker Hassey Brooks of the Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries; and entertainment from local musician Chris Posey.
Blount County Students Studying Agriculture Receives College Scholarship
Auburn University student and scholarship recipient Karri Fievet of Hayden was recognized during the Alabama Farmers Federation 2016 Scholarship Recipients Luncheon Aug. 27 at the Ham Wilson Arena in Auburn. County Board Welcomes Members To Annual Meeting
The Blount County Farmers Federation held its annual meeting Thursday, Aug. 18 at the Frank Green Building in Oneonta. County Alfa Insurance agents were recognized, and door prizes from the farmers market were awarded to winners. The guest speaker was Alabama Farmers Federation Executive Director Paul Pinyan.

County Hosts Legislative Breakfast
The Blount County Farmers Federation's Women's Leadership and Young Farmers committees hosted a legislative breakfast June 18 in Oneonta. U.S. Rep. Gary Palmer of Alabama's 6th Congressional District was the event's guest speaker, and Matthew Durdin of the Alabama Farmers Federation also spoke. Other special guests were State Sens. Clay Scofield, R-Guntersville, and Shay Shellnut, R-Trussville, along with State. Reps. David Standridge, R-Hayden, and Randall Shedd, R-Cullman.
